Make It Monday - Blog Hop Breifcase How Tos

A fun card for Dad, a business major graduate, or the savvy business woman.
Great for any occasion!

For the contrasting panel on the briefcase, I created my own designer paper by stamping images from the French Foliage stamp set all over Cajun Craze with Early Espresso Ink.. The word block image was done with white craft ink.

Supplies:
French Foliage stamp set
Greeting set - Word Play was used here.
Cardstock: River Rock, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Soft Suede, Early Espresso Ink pads
Soft Suede marker
White Craft Ink
Linen thread
Sticky Strip Tape
Large Tag punch, Word Window punch, Corner Rounder punch
****************************************************

1. Cut card base (River Rock) 5" x 7"
Score 7" length at 3 1/2".  Fold and crease this fold very well with bone folder.
Round all 4 corners.

2. Cut handle piece from same cardstock as base. (River Rock) 1 3/4" x 2 1/2".
Round corners on one 2 1/2" side.
Punch this edge with the Word Window punch.  To line the shape up evenly, punch a Word Window shape from a  post-it (sticky end) attach to handle piece and center punch over post-it shape to get it centered.  Blue area is where to place post-it punch shape.
3. On contrasting cardstock (Cajun Craze), stamp scattered images of leaves and splatter
over a 4" x 3 1/2" piece of cardstock with Early Espresso Ink.
Stamp word image over this with craft white ink.  Heat set craft ink or allow to dry.
Cut a 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" piece for center strip on front of card.

                                           scrap          2 1/4" wide x 3 1/2" tall

4. You'll need to get the tag and a leaf out of the remaining scrap.
Stamp leaf in white craft ink.  Heat set leaf image.  Cut out.  Attach to tag shape.

5. Cut 2 strips (Soft Suede) 3/4" x 3 1/2"  for contrasting bands.
Cut another piece, same color, 3" x 4" for inside of card.

6. Attach stamped  2 1/4" x 3 1/2" piece to center front of briefcase.
Attach 2 strips of Soft Suede, overlapping edge of stamped layer 1/4".  (See sample picture at top.)

7. Attach handle to inside of card with Sticky Strip tape.  (This makes sure it can't be pulled off.)
Center handle on card, keeping 1"of handle above the edge of the card.
Attach 3" x 4" piece centered inside card over handle piece.

8.  Cut a piece of very Vanilla 2 3/4" x 2 3/4".
Stamp greeting in Soft Suede ink.  Attach this layer on Soft Suede layer.

9. Pierce a hole through top end of tag.  Hang from handle with 5" of Linen thread.

10.  Using Soft Suede marker go around card front and handle to create stitched look.

Optional:  You could attach a gift card to the inside opposite the greeting with glue dots.
You could also add a 2" x 4" pocket to hold a gift card.

Supplies for pocket:
Cardstock (River Rock) 2" x 4"
Cut Sticky Strip Tape to 1/8".
Circle Punch
Pocket is shown in contrasting color to view.  Cut pocket from same color as base.

1. Cut 2" x 4" piece from River Rock.
2. Punch opening for grabbing card in top center edge.
3. Attach Sticky Strip to the ends and one long side.  Center on inside of card.
Press down firmly over tape with bone folder.
