Chalked Canary

Here is a card  that was inspired by Sara at Lily's Ink Pad.  I wanted to try the chalking on designer paper.  I haven't had great success with this technique in the past but am pleased with how this turned out.  Sara shares the details on how to do this on her blog.

The card layout is from the Sketch challenge  forum at Stampin' Addicts.  A great place to go for sketch ideas, when you are stuck and need inspiration.

Nature Walk
Define Your Life
Teeny Tiny phrases
Crumb Cake Ink
Craft White ink
Early Espresso Ink
Botanical Gazette dsp
Crumb Cake base - 5.5" x 8.5"
Big Shot 3" and 3.5" dies for the circles
1.25" Marina Mist strip with Craft White ink sponged on edge
1" strip of Brown dsp from Botanical Gazette
Designer and1 3/8 Circle Punch shapes
7" of Satin Bashful Blue Ribbon

Stamp an image from Define Your Life 2x on a scrap of Crumb Cake and punch a circle from the center of this.  Stamp your greeting on that. Layer the circle over the Designer Punch after sponging the edges of both pieces.

Attach the 2 strips on the bottom portion of the card.  Lay a strip of Sticky Strip Tape across the top layer.  Remove protective film and scrunching the ribbon as you go, press the ribbon onto the tape.

Distress the edge of the 3.5" circle.  Stamp bird and flower using White Craft Ink.  I used a dauber and applied more White craft ink over the body and head areas.  Apply chalk.  Using Q-tips I applied chalk to define the eye and wing areas.  Attach 2 circles over each other on top portion of card.  Be careful not to smear across the ink when pressing down.

Attach greeting punch shape with Dimensionals over the ribbon.  That's the card!

How about that, I see my visitor counter crossed over 50,000 hits.
Wow, just wow.  I thank all of your for visiting my blog
and sharing your comments.  I love to share what I do with you!

Happy Stamping!
