Make It Monday - How to cut half a die cut.

It is very easy to create a card with this fancy fold using the framelits.

To make this fancy fold card you will need:
Big Shot - full platform
Framelit set of your choice
5 1/2 X 8 1/2" card base
scraps and pieces to cut matching pieces with framelits to decorate card
stamp set and ink to stamp images with.

How tos:
Score card base in half at 4 1/4".
Score one side at 2 1/8".

Place the card base centered on the platform.  photo A
This way it is easier to handle the platform as it goes through the Big Shot.
Yes  I took photo A after I did the die cut. I forgot it! :)
Yours won't have the cut in it already.

Line up the die centered on the 2 1/8" score line. photo B

A    B

Tip: If you use a shape without a point on it,
mark the center spot on the flat side on each end with a sharpie marker.

Set the clear plate over the narrow end of the card base.
Lining the end of the plate up with the 2 1/8" score line.

I like to place the platform on the left end of the Big Shot with the top plate coming through
the Big Shot opening. photo A  It feeds through easier.

You can also feed it through the Big Shot from one end. photo B

This cuts just the section the plate was laid over.

Fold your card into a Z fold.

Decorate card as shown in photos.

Workshop Wednesday - Regarding Dahlias

This is a stamp set that can be used for many occasions and techniques.
I did embossing with White Embossing Powder on Pistachio Pudding.
This style card is a great way to introduce embossing to a beginner stamper.

Supplies:
Regarding Dahlias stamp set
White cardstock
card base -  5.5" x 8.5"  Score and fold at 4.25".
3.25" square, 1 3/8" circle

Baked Brown Sugar cardstock
3.5" square, 1.5" circle

Pistachio Pudding cardstock
3 1/8" square, scrap to punch a 1 1/4" circle out of.

Versamark, White Embossing Powder, heat gun
punches - 1 3/8", 1 1/4" circle punches, Circle cutter for 1 1/2"
White Taffeta Ribbon, Dimensionals
Simply Scored and stylus

How tos:
1. Score 4 lines on front of card base at 1/4" markings starting at fold line of card.  Using the Simply Scored, start at left hand edge score every 1/4".  This adds an easy detail that will add dimension to the card.

2. Stamp the large flower image on the Pistachio Pudding 3 1/8" square with Versamark.  Cover in White EP.  Heat set with heat gun.

3. Layer this on white and Baked Brown Sugar layers.  Tie ribbon around  all layers.
Attach to card base covering part of 3 lines.  See photo.

4.  Stamp greeting in Versamark.  Cover in White EP. Heat set with heat gun.
Layer on white and Baked Brown Sugar circles.  Attach to card with Dimensionals.

5.  Stamp greeting inside and your card is done.

Technique Tuesday - Monochromatic Cards - Lacy & Lovely

I work with 2 colors when creating this style card.
Here of course, Pistachio Pudding from the blog hop, and Whisper White.

This is a 4" x 4" card.  It could easily be done as an A2 type card as shown below.
I placed a clay flower in the center of these.
Stampin' Up! now has flower and button molds to use with air dry clay.

For a 4" square card.
Cardstock:
Pistachio Pudding:
4" x 8" base score at 4"
3 1/8" x 3 1/8" layer

Whisper White
3.75" x 3.75" layer to stamp background on.
2.5" 2.5" layer to stamp single image and cut into 4 sections.

Lacy & Lovely stamp set
Pistachio Pudding ink
Very Vintage Designer Button or clay flower for center.
Bakers Twine
Tip: Dye White Baker's Twine any color by running twine over ink pad while pressing down on twine with scrap paper.

How tos:
1.  Stamp around edges of Whisper White 3.75" square layer with smaller images from Lacy & Lovely.

2. Stamp single image on 2.5" square.
3. Cut in half and then cut each half in half again.
Tip: As I cut these, I lay them where they will go on the 3" Pistachio Pudding square.
Then I get them in the right order when I attach them.

4. Attach button or clay flower to center spot.  Attach card section onto stamped 3.75" square.
Attach to card base.

Stampin' Addicts New Colors Blog Hop 2013

Welcome to a special one day blog hop put on by Stampin' Addicts!
We are each featuring a new color.  My color to feature is Pistachio Pudding,
a NEW In Color for 2013 - 2015.  I will admit this was nowhere near a favorite
when I chose it, but it has grown on me.  I hope you like what I did with it too.

*****
First off a simple workshop card.  An embossed floral, the NEW Regarding Dahlias stamp set, embossed in white EP on Pistachio Pudding.  This is layered on Whisper White and then Baked Brown Sugar.
I'll post more about this card on Workshop Wednesday.

*****
Here I created a monchromatic card.  Pistachio Pudding and Whisper White.
The Lacy & Lovely stamp set along with a new Very Vintage Designer Button
create a very feminine 4" x 4" card for any occasion.
More about this card on Technique Tuesdays.

*****
Some Dressed Up 3D treats.  These are small, they hold 1 or 2 mints but how cute for a birthday treat or a shower table decoration.  They might even show up in my customer's orders!  I used the Dress Up Big Shot framelits to cut on the fold.
More on how to make these on Thursday's Big Shot Style.

*****
Just for giggles, something that popped in my head . . .
Yes Tina, it was very late at night when I came up with this idea.
For your sweetie.  Get it?

Inside the card . . . .
Good for a giggle!

Chris R. from Iowa
This is the first card I have seen using this new set. I love the goose. Your card is stunning! I love the touch of the white caps via the gel pen. I would like this set but I wondered if I could do it justice? You certainly did! I never have brayered a card but I think I might have to try this. Can you tell I really like this card and I am not trying to win the dots! Of course that would just be a bonus if I did.
I sent you an email Chris.

Here's the goose from the set Wetlands.
I did a clear block stamped area with Marina Mist and Crumb Cake.  Then stamped the reeds in Crumb Cake over that.  The goose is stamped in Basic Black.  The body is colored in with the new Smoky Slate ink and an Aquapainter.  It's simple and manly.  Looking at it now, I could have embossed the basic Grey layer with the Square Lattice folder.  Next card!

Aged Poppy

This image is from the hostess set Simply Sketched.
I love the simple outline images.  It is so easy to watercolor with them.

I stamped the inked image onto the wet watercolor paper so the image would blur
(I used Gumball Green and Calypso Coral).  Blotted the watercolor paper, dried it with the heat gun, carefully!  Then restamped the image for the crisp lines, and did some "painting" in of the image using an Aquapainter.

After it was totally dried I colored over the pistils with  the black marker.  The edges of the flower were lightly highlighted with Tangerine Tango.  I stamped over the flower with the Dictionary BG stamp in Crumb Cake. You can get that stamp in clear mount!

The Crumb Cake layer is embossed with the Honeycomb embossing folder.  The edges are sponged and torn for an aged look.  To unravel the ribbon you need to cut away the edges so the threads can be pulled.

You can get this set with $10 hostess credit for clear mount
or $14 hostess credit for wood mount, with a minimum order of $150.
Call me to set a date, gather a few friends together, we'll have a private class
and you can all make this card!

June's Bag Tags and Thank yous

I created the thank you cards and tags for June with Mosaic Madness.
You can purchase this stamp set as part of a bundle,
with matching paper and a punch!

I used the cleared patterned sheets for the thank you cards.
Inside is a post it stamped with Thank You for your order.
I always save this part of the paper pack for something special.
Well, lol, that something special is usually collecting dust on a shelf!

The bag tags where fun.  I punched out the Mosaic shape first.
Then punched the circle shape.  I added the center spots
as the brown space was too much by itself.
I put customer's names on post its on the back of these.  Then they can be reused.

Each June I give out book marks using the new in colors.  I usually stamp and attach a punched shape but for these to fit in the book mark holders I found in my stash while cleaning (There is a good reason to clean, treasures are unearthed!) I had to tilt the punched shape.  Do you see the theme?  :)

I got this bundle set free for being a Manager with Stampin' Up!.
FREE is fun!  You could earn discounts or free product too.

My new favorite stamp set is Wetlands.

I love to watch the water wash across the sand and the birds skitter
back and forth in front of the waves.  Not that today is a good day
for being at the beach wiith the temperature at 52 degrees on June 6th.  Bleh

I created this card using a brayer for blending the sand and surf effect on retired glossy paper.
A white gel pen creates great white caps.
A post it and dauber worked to add a bit of sunset.
Those are the new Candy Dots in Crumb Cake on the banner.

Would you like a sampling of the new candy dots in all 4 color families?
Leave a comment on this post.  I'll pick a name on Sunday.

That's the Ticket

created by Mary Haugen

No matter what I do I can not get rid of the yellow tint in this photo!
Frustrating.  Retaking it didn't help either.

I love it.  Even with the yellow tint.  It's a great card layout.
A nice way to add a touch of designer paper without it overpowering your card.
Oh, this set is in the new catalog!

Workshop Wednesday - By the Tide

Yes it carried over!
created by Emma Fewkes
An easy workshop card.  The stamping helps define the Vanilla layer
to make it look as if another layer has been added.

Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla cardstock
Midnight Muse and Soft Suede ink
Midnight Muse ribbon, Linen thread, mini pearls

Supplies
Midnight Muse card base 5.5" x 8.5"
Very Vanilla - 4" x 5.25"
Image layer:
Vanilla 2.25" x 3.5"
Midnight Muse 2.5" x 3.75"
6" Midnight Muse ribbon
Dimensionals.

1. Stamp the images in Soft Suede ink on the 4" x 5.25 Vanilla layer.
It looks like the top section is the retired Netting stamp.  You could sponge this lightly instead.
Attach ribbon onto Very Vanilla layer.  Tie Linen thread around one end.
Layer on card base.

2. Stamp the lobster in Midnight Muse.  Layer on Midnight Muse.
Add pearls.  Attach to card with Dimensionals.
