It's swap time again! Sale A Bration Set - Part Of My Story #simplystamping

A new catalog starts January 3rd.
The Occasion Catalog and Sale A Bration catalog will go live that day!

I only did one local swap this year.
I swapped for so many cards at Onstage in Florida,
I don't have space to display much more!

I used the greeting set Part of My Story for my swap.
Along with Winter Woods (which is carried over!  Love these trees!)

The background,  created with Balmy Blue ink is stamped with a clear block ( block I).
It was so different from card to card.  How much ink the block holds,
the amount of water sprtized on the inked block, it all makes a difference.

Here it is so light.

Shimmer cardstock works very well for this technique.
It is mounted on Smokey Slate.  I used Basic Gray for the trees and words.
Cherry Cobbler marker for the heart.  A trio of Rhinestones finished it up.

It is a great card for Stampin' Up's! #simplystamping challenge.
Easy for beginners, but enough wow to please an advanced stamper in a class.

Happy stamping!

Merry Christmas!

I'm sure you know it's so hard to get pets to pose for pictures.
This guy is extra shy.  He's finally starting to get that if he sits,
while I aim the phone in his face, he gets a treat.

I gave this to him Christmas Eve.
He didn't like all the extra fuss happening.
Well, he didn't like this toy either.  lol

Happy Holidays to you and yours!
May your holiday be filled with wonderful memories!

!2 days of Gift Card Holders - Day 12 Adding a Gift Card Pocket

You don't have to make something 3D to hold a gift card.
There are many ways to add a pocket inside any card to create a gift card holder.

So beat that last minute stress, pull out a card you already have
and add a pocket for that last minute gift card.

You can use Tear and Tape adhesive, Glue Dots, or Mini Dimensionals,
to attach your pockets.  Keep in mid the width of the gift card, usually 3.5",
so you can slide it into the pocket.

Also remember, only put adhesive on 3 of the sides.
Not the side the card slides into.
I did all 4 sides of the pockets on a set of gift card holders,
way back, when first selling cards.  That was not funny then, it is now!  :)

Diagonal pockets are great.

You can do a different color for a pop of color inside,
or the same color so it blends into the card base.

This one is cut higher, rather than a 3 sided triangle.

Designer paper makes a great pocket.

This style allows the card to be sideways or to stand up.

Vellum works too.

Gift card holders can also go in the left side of the card.

This will make the greeting, inside the card, the focal point.

So they can be made of anything, go anywhere, making gift giving easier!
Less stress for you!

Happy Holidays!

!2 days of Gift Card Holders - Day 10 Sprig Punch Reindeer

It's another card gift card holder.
To make a gift card holder out of a card,
just add a 4" wide x 2.5" high pocket inside the card.

Isn't he cute?

I love reindeer and especially goofy eyed ones.  :)
I colored a Clear Faceted Gem with a red Sharpie for his nose.
The sprig punch makes great antlers.

Inspired by a card by Rose Coleman.

This die is a favorite of my customers.
We always make one thing with it during the holiday season.

If you don't own the die it is would be easy to make a paper pattern,
to recreate the stocking gift card holder.
The toe, heel, and cuff are extra pieces layered on the stocking.

!2 Days of Gift Card Holders - Day 3 Pizza Boxes

This is a quick project.
So cute, I love the Dashing Deer stamp set and Framelits.
I only used the Detailed Deer Thinlits.

With a little paper shred, a gift card fits in these perfectly.

Detailed Deer Thinlits
scrap of Crumb Cake for deer
Sponge Crumb Cake Ink around deer die cuts

3 1/4" Square W. White cardstock, - emboss with Woodland Textures Embossing Folder

Sprig Punch - Gold Glimmer paper.  Make sure the ends will be under the deer!

2 - 1/2" x 2 3/4" Wood Texture dsp scraps.  Trim so they are different lengths.
1 - 1/2" x 2 3/4" strip for under vellum circle

2 1/4" Circle Punch of Vellum - I attached the deer to the circle
with Dimensionals, then used adhesive under the deer to attach the circle over the strips.

I tied a double bow with about 20" of 1/8" Sheer White Ribbon.
Fold in half, tie bunny ear bow with doubled 10" length.
Attach bow with Glue Dots.

12 Days of Gift Card Holders - Day 2 Purse

I love this little purse.  It opens like a book.
It's perfect for the girls in your family.

Inside View

I used the Tufted embossing folder on the front of the purse.
Cherry Cobbler cardstock
Dashing Along Designer Paper
16" Real Red 3/8 Mixed Satin Ribbon
I tied Linen Thread around loops to make bow.
Very Vanilla Lace Trim
Clear Faceted Gem - on bow
Tear and Tape Adhesive - to attach gift card pocket
1" Circle Punch, Layering Oval Framelits

Purse body measures  4 5/8" x 4 1/4" closed.  Handles add 1 3/4".
Top edge of purse is 3" wide.  Inside Pocket 4" wide x 2 1/2" tall.
This does not fit in an A2 envelope.
You would need to cut 1 1/8" off base, or shorten handles to fit in an envelope.

I lined the inside with another purse panel,
to hide handle ends and make it sturdier.

Happy stamping!

12 Days of Gift Card Holders - Day 1 Treat Box With Gift card Holder

A fun way to give a gift card and a little treat.
Hershey Kisses or other small candies go in the box.

Tips:  I tied 16" of ribbon around the gift card to make it easier to slide out.
The bow keeps it from going too far into the slot.

I punched my window opening after the dsp was on the box.  I was able to
use the line in the paper to line up the edge of the punch.

Also, pay attention to which side you punch the 1/2 circle out of.  I'm a lefty!

Happy stamping!

Magic Card Tutorial - Magical Mermaid Stamp Set

I finally had time to get this put together.
A couple of crazy weeks since attending Onstage in Florida.

For one of the organized swaps I was signed up for I did a Magic card,
using the Magical Mermaid Stamp Set.

I started with a search online for some direction.  Most of the tutorials were too involved.
I found this tutorial on a German demonstrator's website.  She had such a great write up.
I only needed to adapt it for US measurements.

This seems long but it goes together very easily.

Supplies:
Magical Mermaid Stamp Set
Black, Tranquil Tide, W. White cs
Tranquil Textures dsp
Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon, Rhinestones
Shimmer Paint --DSP and Greeting is sprtized
Mix with alcohol in Spritzer for Shimmer Spray Acetate, Stapler, Circle Tab Punch
Tranquil Tide, Balmy Blue, Ink
Assorted markers for Mermaid – Could use Stampin' Blends
Mini Dimensionals
2” Circle Punch
Layering Oval Framlits

****************************************************************************
Magic Card Tutorial
Measurements:
Black cardstock - 5 1/2” x 9”  You can only get one from a sheet of 8.5" x 11" cardstock.
Score at 2 1/4” x 6 3/4”  Fold on score lines.
Designer Paper (Will be referred to as dsp throughput the tutorial.) - 4” x 5 1/4”
Layering Ovals Framelits – Pick the 2 largest smooth edged ovals.
3 1/4” x 5"  -one of Whisper White and one of Acetate
Scrap of Tranquil Tide – for Circle Tab Punch
4 “ x 5 1/2” - one piece each of whisper white and black  This will be your divider that makes the magic happen.
Tear and Tape Adhesive
2 1/2” square of Whisper White for greeting
9" of Tranquil Tide 1/4" Velvet Ribbon
Rhinestones
****************************************************************************
How Tos:
1. Layer dsp on front of 5 1/2” x 9” black piece.
Attach at center point with temporary tape.
Using smaller oval cut through both dsp and cardstock layers.
You can save the ovals cut out for another card.

2. Remove dsp layer from black cs.
Cut around oval opening in dsp with larger oval.
You'll have a thin edge oval cut out, save for another card or toss.

3. Attach dsp to front of 5 1/2” x 9” black card stock centered over oval opening.
You'll have a black frame for your image this way. AND the ovals will line up.

4. Using the Stamparatus stamp on 3 1/4” x 5"  Whisper White cardstock. With black ink of your choice, (Stazon for Markers, or Watercolor Pencils, or Memento for Blends coloring)
Stamp on the acetate layer with Stazon Ink.  Set aside to dry. It takes a while to dry. You can't use heat (acetate melts) or blotting (smears the ink).

5. Color your mermaid image on the 3 1/4” x 5"  Whisper White.  Stamp the seaweed in Tranquil Tide. Stamp the dots in Balmy Blue.  Sponge Balmy Blue over the cards shown in picture.

6. Layer acetate over Whisper White. Line up image exactly. Staple together at the top edge.  Punch out a Circle Tab Punch from Tranquil Tide scrap and attach with Tear and Tape Adhesive over staple.

6a. Attach a 1/2” x 4” strip on the back bottom edge of the white piece with Tear and Tape Adhesive.  (It is the stopper that keeps the image from coming out of the card.)

7. Attach 3 Mini Dimensionals on the inside of the card, on the bottom edge, below the oval opening.  Also on bottom edge, back side of divider. (Shown in picture.)  Attach 2 at the top corners on inside.

8. Attach Tear and Tape Adhesive on flap that will overlap when closed.

9. Glue together the 4 “ x 5 1/4” pieces of white and black to make one sheet. You need white for the mermaid on the acetate to show up and that isn't strong enough by itself, for the center of the card.
With the white side facing the oval opening, attach this over the bottom 3 Dimensionals matching bottom edges and even along the sides.

10. Slide the stapled image layers over this divider.  The acetate goes to the white side.
Check that the 1/2” x 4” strip will easily slide up and down. Trim width if needed. (Not too much, as it needs to be stopped by the 2 Mini Dimensionals at the top edge.)

11. Remove paper from the 2 top Dimensionals and the Tear and Tape Adhesive. Close and press the back flap in and onto the Dimensionals and tape. Now your image layer should slide up and down without coming out of the card. And the magic is revealed!

12. Stamp the greeting and seaweed in Tranquil Tide. Stamp the dots in Balmy Blue.  Sponge the image with Balmy Blue as in photo.   Punch out greeting with 2” Circle punch.  Attach the ribbon around the card. Used Tear and Tape Adhesive so it meets under the greeting spot. Attach greeting with Dimensionals over ribbon. Attach rhinestones to mimic bubbles.
I did a black 2.25" Circle Punch shape behind my greeting on the prototype.  I forgot these on the swap card.

Done!

Happy stamping!

Country Home Photopolymer Stamp Set

Here is a card for all seasons.
By coloring with different colors you can make it for any season or holiday.

We did colors for Christmas in this class.

Country Home stamp set
Soft Suede Card base 5.5" x 8.5"  Score and fold at 4.25"
Whisper White - Ink back side- inside if Tin Tile embossing folder,
and run through Big Shot with white cardstock layer inside.
Soft Suede under image 2.75" x 3.75"
White image layer 2.5" x 3.5"
Stamp both images in Tranquil Tide.  Color with Watercolor pencils.
Blend with blender pen.
Linen Thread bow attached with a glue dot.
2 banner strips, 1/2" x 1"  Trim ends to banner shape.
Slide one farther under Soft Suede image when attaching to card front.

I recommend the Multi Purpose Liquid glue for attaching cardstock that has been embossed.
it has a better grip and gives you a little time to move stuff around to line it up.

Inspired by a card by Lyssa Zwolanek.

#SimpleStamping Christmas Cards

At Onstage presenters talked about the different levels of stamping.
How in this busy time we could bring things back to simple stamping.
It would give our customers and ourselves the joy of stamping,
and getting a card done quickly.  I always try to include a few cards in my classes
that are quick and cute, so I can offer levels of stamping for all my customers.

Here are a few from November's classes.
I was lazy, and took pictures of the cards attached to the buckets.
Better to post than wait to set up the light station!

Shaded Spruce Cardstock base 5.5" x 8.5"  Fold in half or score and fold at 4.25"
All Is Bright Designer Paper 2" x 5.5"
Real Red Strip 1/2" x 5.25" - This could be 5.5" and go right to the edge.  These strips were in the paper drawer so I used them.
Real Red Circle - Layering Circle Framelits 2.5" size

Stamp your greeting first, then punch your circle out.
Whisper White 2 1/4" Circle Punch
Shaded Spruce Ink
Greeting - Farmhouse Christmas Photopolymer stamp set

Same style just a little more dsp and I offset the circle.

Very Vanilla Cardstock base 5.5" x 8.5"  Fold in half or score and fold at 4.25"
All is bright Designer Paper 2" x 5.25" - One side is festive Red and Green, the other elegant picture designs.
Gold Metallic Strip 1/2" x 5.25"
Gold Metallic Circle - Layering Circle Framelits 2.5" size

Stamp your greeting first, then punch your circle out.
Whisper White 2 1/4" Circle Punch
Soft Suede Ink - Yes it looks great with this paper!
Greeting - Winter Woods stamp set
