Double Bow Builder Punch - Gift Box Topper

A fun way to add a little more to your gift packaging.
Double up that bow.
I threw together a quick picture tutorial for creating this gift box topper.
Double Bow Builder Punch
1. Punch 4 sets of the punch.
You'll only need one of the small rectangles for over the center of the top loop.
Apply Sticky Strip as in the picture.  You need a super strong adhesive to hold these together.
You can also use Tombow Liquid adhesive, you'll just need to hold it a bit until the glue sets.

2. Overlapping just the ends, attach 2 bow loop sections together.
Attach 2 tail sections together.

3. Curl loop sections around your finger or a pen.

4. Attach them at center point.
Wrap small rectangle around one finished loop section.

5. Layer the loop sections over each other.
Attached with Tombow Liquid Adhesive or Sticky Strip.

6. Attach the tail sections under the loops, angling them out between the loop sections.

7. Finished bow.  You can add a pearl or rhinestone in the center.
Punch in with the Bow Builder Punch on the 8.5" end of the cardstock.
The fibers in the paper allow the bow section to curl better when punched in this direction.
Below you can see the bow pieces I punched along the 11" side of the paper.
The loops crimped rather than curled.

Happy stamping!

Tuesday Tip of the Week and Weekly Deals!

Tuesday Tip of the Week:
Do you have lots of the small punches?
Are they all over the place or tossed in a bin where you can't ever find the one you want?
I came across a great idea at the thrift store.
It's a silverware organizer tray.  This one is metal, coasted in a plastic.
I attached it to the wall studs with a couple of screws and washers to hold it to the wall.

Any tray with a good structure would work.  Even the individual metal trays for organizing a desk drawer.  The plastic silverware trays are easier to find, I think they would work well on a table or in a drawer.  I just don't have much drawer space in this room!

Bouquet BigZ Die - Flower Gift Bag

Arg, I haven't posted in forever!!!
I really dislike when life grabs my agenda and takes up all my time.  lol
Nothing horrible just everyday stuff that didn't happen as I expected.
Here is a gift bag decorated with banners and a huge peony.  Well I think it's a peony.  :)
I used 18 petals cutting them with the largest shapes on the die
from the Sale A Bration designer paper.  The edges are curled with the bone folder.
The center is a 1 1/2" x 11" strip of So Saffron.  I cut one edge with the Fringe scissors.
I ran Sticky Strip along one edge of the strip and rolled it into a tube.
Being cardstock the fringe folded over easily to fill the center of the blossom.
The banners are Black cardstock, and a piece from the Stacked with Love designer series paper.
I used the largest Banner framelit to cut them and offset them on the bag.
A bit of Hello Honey ribbon on the handle and it was all done.
Happy stamping!

Tuesday Tip of the Week and Weekly Deals!

Tip of the Week:
Do you hate how grungy looking your clear blocks get?
You can clean them with Dawn dish soap.  It cuts the oil from your hands.

You can use the Mr. Clean sponges on more stubborn ink stains.
I’ve even used the Stazon ink remover to get the White Stazon off the blocks.
 It doesn’t hurt the blocks.

If you get adhesive on the blocks, you can use the eraser from in the catalog to get the adhesive off.
They'll look good as new!

Butterfly Basics Collage Card

I'm really having fun with the stamp set, Butterfly Basics.
Here I created a collage card with a faux envelope.
The envelope is a 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" rectangle scored at 3/4" on one end.
Round all the corners before folding the flap over.
Attach the brads through 1/2" circle right through the layers to the back,
then wind some Linen thread around them.
The vine die cut is from the Flower Frenzy BigZ die.
Lots of sponging, lots of stamping!
Happy stamping!

Tuesday Tip of the week and the Weekly Deals!

Tip of the week:
Do you have your labels on your clear mount stamps?
If you are having problems keeping your stamps on the clear blocks.  Use some Chapstick.  Yes! Chapstick.  Apply a bit to the block, press the stamp into it and it will stay put while you stamp.
It's very easy to clean up, just wipe off the block and the stamp with a paper towel.   I learned this technique from my friend KellyJean Gettelfinger.

I tried temporary tape in the past but it gunks up the block and every bit of dirt sticks to them.

I have also tried cutting the label smaller and leaving some of the foam exposed.

Leaving the labels off entirely.  That's creates a problem with the word stamps.  What directions should the go?  If you prefer your stamps with no label, one idea is to draw an up arrow on the foam.

The best idea is the Chapstick on the block.  I love a simple solution!

Happy stamping!

Butterflies Thinlits Dies on a Tag

A fun tag for a bag, a box, or a card front!
It's the Art Tag for Stamp Buffet this week.
On the art Tag I get to use retired sets if they work better for the design.
There is some stamping in Sahara Sand, on the Whisper White layer with French Foliage.
my all time favorite stamp set.  I also did the Direct to Paper Technique,
using the edge of the ink pad on the cardstock edge to add distressing.
The Fibers used as an accent, are strands from the Burlap Ribbon.
I trimmed one side of the ribbon off, then pulled the strands out of the ribbon weave.
The Washi tape is Beach House Designer Washi Tape from the Big Catalog.
I cut a butterfly in half and attached it with Tombow adhesive..
It's all mounted on a tag of Hello Honey cardstock.
Happy stamping!

Almost done with the Office!

I completed a messy project yesterday.  I Mod Podged book pages to the doors of the closet.  I was going to do fabric (Mod Podged to doors) but after reading a few blog posts I decided to go with book pages.  After all I have over a dozen dictionaries, and lol, still can't spell!
Close up of pages
I tried to even distribute the pictures.
There are no snakes, bugs, or gory human parts, on these doors!
I flipped those pages over!
All the trim is painted and installed.  I need to touch up the window frames.
I'm just leaning stuff against the wall to make sure it's where I want it,
before I put holes in the newly painted walls.
So still to do: curtains, paint desk top (something !) under glass protector,
slip cover office chair, Put up shelves above the desk,
and then move the paper and stuff back in!
First tho I have a class this next week so I need to prep for that.
Happy stamping!

Happy Heart Day!

Need a quick Valentine treat?

My son came over to help move some shelves up to the office, yes! it's almost finished!!!
I realized I didn't have a Valentine for him.  I had given away all the class samples I'd made too.
So I thought, why not mimic the old fashion Valentine he gave as a kid.
I cut a couple hearts with the Heart framelits.  The pattern paper was scrap I had in the toss box.
I stamped and colored the pirate with markers.  I cut him out with the Deco Label thinlits
and popped it up on the hearts.  I punched a couple holes in the hearts and the small treat bag
and tied it all together with some Bakers Twine.  He loved it, he's really a nostalgic person at heart.
It did remind him of the school Valentine's he used to give.

Tuesday Tip of the Week and Weekly Deals!

Tip of the week:
Using a post it to extend your reach.
Do you like to use up your scraps?  I like to use the small pieces up too.
I stamp on them, if they are too short to handle in the punch I use a Post It to hold onto them.
Attach sticky part of  Post It at corner of scrap.
Slid into punch.
Punch shape may have bit of Post It attached.  Just pull that off.
It can even be on the stamp image.
The Post It adhesive doesn't damage your stamped image.
Your punched shape is ready to use on a card!
